Concacaf Council Approves Exceptional Hosting Arrangement for the Haitian Football Federation
The match comes to Nu Stadium following Concacaf’s announcement that its Council has approved an exceptional hosting arrangement for the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) due to the ongoing security situation in Haiti. Under this exceptional arrangement, the FHF may be permitted to play its designated home matches in Concacaf-sanctioned competitions in the territory of its opponents, rather than being limited to the Caribbean region as required under the current regulations. This flexibility will remain in place for as long as the security situation in Haiti persists. This Haiti-specific measure, which will also be extended to Haitian clubs, will remain subject to ongoing review and may be amended or withdrawn by the Concacaf Council at any time.
The application of this exceptional arrangement has been approved for Haiti’s home-designated match against the United States in the Quarterfinals of the 2026/27 Concacaf Nations League. The match was originally scheduled to take place at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
About Concacaf Nations League
Announced in 2017 and with a Group Stage format kicking off in 2019, the ongoing 2026/2027 Concacaf Nations League is the fifth edition of the tournament, with past winners including the United States, who made history winning the competition three times in a row, and Mexico, who claimed the title in the last edition of the tournament.
Following the Group Stage play in the September-October FIFA window, which featured the 12 national teams divided into two groups of six, the top two teams in each group advanced to the Quarterfinal stage – among them Haiti – joining the four pre-seeded teams in League A: Canada, Mexico, Panama, and the United States.
The Quarterfinals, to be played in November 2026, will see the eight best teams for League A compete to advance to the Concacaf Nations League Finals, which will take place in SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles next March. The teams that advance to the Concacaf Nations League Finals will receive a direct qualification path to the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup.
About the Match
After participating in the FIFA World Cup 2026 over the summer, Haiti continued to build on a historic year with top performances in the Nations League A Group Stage to qualify for the quarterfinals for the first time. Haiti secured a quarterfinals spot by finishing second in Group B with a 3W-0D-1L record for a total of nine points. Les Grenadiers posted three wins in a row, defeating Trinidad and Tobago 3-2, Costa Rica 2-0 and the Dominican Republic 4-1, before falling 2-0 to Costa Rica in the last Group Stage fixture.
The Concacaf Nations League match will see Haiti play at an Inter Miami venue for a third time this year. The Caribbean nation played two international friendlies in June in preparation for the World Cup, first defeating New Zealand 4-0 at Inter Miami CF Stadium on June 2, before narrowly falling against Peru in the historic first-ever international friendly at Nu Stadium on June 5.
The United States, meanwhile, is set to kick off its campaign after sealing a berth directly in the quarterfinals as one of the four pre-seeded teams in search of expanding its impressive record in the competition. Of the initial four editions of the Concacaf Nations League, the USMNT won three of them, clinching the title in the 2019/2020, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 editions.
The announcement of the match at Nu Stadium comes on the heels of the announcement of another USA game at one of Inter Miami’s homes, as the U.S. Men’s National Team will bring the curtain down on a successful 2026 campaign with a showdown against longtime Concacaf rival Jamaica on Sunday, Dec. 13 at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Nu Stadium – Home of Sports and Entertainment
The announced Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals matchup adds to the extensive portfolio of sporting and entertainment events Nu Stadium has hosted in its inaugural year. Since opening its doors in April, the versatile venue has hosted a historic sold-out Haiti vs. Peru match in June that marked the first-ever international friendly at the Club’s new home as well as an international friendly between Colombia and Peru in October, had Carin León perform at the first-ever concert at the venue, hosted KidSuper’s Spring/Summer 2027 Runway Show, and last month was announced as the host venue for the Final phase of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2027™.
Additionally, Nu Stadium was also one of the protagonists in an action-packed summer in which Inter Miami’s facilities – including the Florida Blue Training Center and Inter Miami CF Stadium as well – were the most utilized facilities by national teams. A total of 13 national teams, including 11 participating nations in the historic FIFA World Cup 2026, leveraged the Club’s world-class facilities to prepare for the global stage since June 1.
