This past Tuesday, Oct. 6 saw Nu Stadium host its second-ever international friendly, with Inter Miami CF’s state-of-the-art home setting the stage for a thrilling battle between South American rivals Colombia and Peru. The matchup ultimately resulted in a 2-0 victory for Colombia in front of a colorful crowd that provided an electric atmosphere for the evening.
Following an even first 45 minutes with both sides in search of the opener, it was Colombia that found the breakthrough goal in the second half.
Defender Samuel Velásquez handed Los Cafeteros the lead in the 57th minute through a spectacular hit from outside the box. Notably, the goal was his first for his country’s national team.

This friendly presented Colombian fans with a new opportunity to watch their national team in action at one of Inter Miami CF’s homes. Los Cafeteros had previously played at an Inter Miami CF venue on four different occasions. Colombia most recently secured a 2-1 victory over New Zealand last November at Inter Miami CF Stadium, after previously defeating Venezuela in a friendly in November 2023, and earning a 2-1 and 2-0 wins over Honduras and Paraguay, respectively, in a pair of international friendlies in 2022.
Peru, meanwhile, played at Nu Stadium for the second time, giving passionate fans from the South American country a fresh chance to watch their national team up close in action after securing a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory against Haiti in front of a sellout crowd on June 5 in what marked the first international friendly to be hosted at Nu Stadium.
Nu Stadium: The Home of World-Class Entertainment
The international friendly built on Nu Stadium’s impressive inaugural year, following a sold-out Haiti-Peru match in June that marked the first-ever international friendly at the Club’s new home. The match also took place on the heels of an action-packed summer in which Inter Miami’s facilities – the Florida Blue Training Center, Nu Stadium and Inter Miami CF Stadium – were the most utilized facilities by national teams. A total of 13 national teams, including 11 participating nations in the historic FIFA World Cup 2026, leveraged the Club’s world-class facilities to prepare for the global stage since June 1. The Club’s newest home also added to the impressive lineup of events in its first year, including having Carin León perform at the first-ever concert at the venue, hosting KidSuper’s Spring/Summer 2027 Runway Show, and most recently housing Soccerex Miami 2026 as sports industry leaders gathered for the first-ever conference at Nu Stadium.
